Cute it is, that explains why there's already almost a hundred Bloggers that have already reviewed Daikanyama in their blogs!
Well, it all started out with a Saturday afternoon outing at Sungei Wang... I was supposed to meet up with my long time school-mate at Mid Valley to go to the Toy Fair .. It was 3pm in the afternoon, there was no way I could find a carpark in MV at that hour :( So I ran my errands in town and did my shoe shopping in Sungei Wang, treated myself to some Green Tea cookies from good ol' Daiso !
Lucky thing, my friend & her partner was ok to meet us at BB so we thought of walking round Changkat BB to look for a nice place to eat! We walked and walked, up and down the street and settled on a cosy & quaint pretty looking Japanese Restaurant called Daikanyama tucked in between two fancy looking Restaurants. Ok, we decided let's settle for this. Of course, we were further amused by the warnings on the glass-door ! Guests are Cautioned of Very Good Food Inside !
Stepping in we were pleasantly suprised by the look and ambience inside and chose the table near the Bamboo smoking-area...

Loved the style of the Menu! Courtesy of http://del82iruka.blogspot.com/
My friend Delphine ordered the Salmon Sashimi while I went for the Garlic Pork Yakitori ...
it was soooo goooood !!
My main course, Torikatsudon ...
I basically chose this based on the portion and value for money! Although it was pay day, it's typical of me to choose a dish that can fill my belly at a decent price!
Needless to say, it was very good, not the usual tasteless torikastudon you get from tacky Jap Restaurants, this one was bursting with flavours, and filled to the brim with chicken !
Jacq's maincourse which could hardly fill a corner in my belly ...
The Chef's Combo- Yakitori Lamb, liver & Okra
It was true, the Chef's Combo was hardly filling and Jacq ended up ordering the Mini-beef Pizza topped with maguro... She said it was fantastic and finished every morsel despite claiming she was full !
The mini-Okonomiyaki
This dish of cold Soba noodles took the longest to arrive!
There must be a valid reason why this dish of cold Soba took almost 40mins to arrive and cost RM 20 !! It has to be handmade right ?? A bite of it and my friend's partner exclaimed it was heavenly ... Noodle texture springy and delightful :) He gave it the thumbs up and claimed it was worth the wait !
We had a lovely night, Awesome company, good laughs, amazing food, excellent ambience; we were extremely happy to find Daikanyama and vowed to come again! and Hey, Happy Hour Tiger Beer is for RM 36 a jug ! What's not to like ?? ;-)

Love the positive energy of your food review, Nic! Great pics too! Would love to go there & try stuff like miso soup and agedashi tofu. Most Jap, Chinese, Indian and Thai restaurants are able to oblige with veg requests. Only Malays seem to think sambal belacan and ikan bilis grow on trees.
Thank you! Thank you! ;) Hope it made you hungry ! ;) We goes next round ! They have very interesting non-meat sushi with Avocado & mango in it and of cos, Agedashi tofu and the cold Soba noodles which only had seaweed in it...
Similarly, chinese must think dried prawn (Har Mai) is vegetables! :D hee hee
